I’m a 30 year old amateur photographer from Denmark, Aarhus. I’m a physical geographer working with water management in an enginering company and my interest and passion for nature and environment is reflected in my interest for photography.
In 2005 I bought my first DSLR and I realized the joy of taking pictures. I started this photoblog in 2006 just for fun. Now I’ve posted several hundred pictures.
First of all I take pictures because I like it! For me photography is much more than the short moment you decide to release the shutter and freeze a moment in your life. It’s about getting inspired by other photographers, their style and their workflow. It’s about looking at the pictures after a trip, picking out the “keepers” that I want to share, the postprocessing and editing of the photos. I enjoy a large print of my best pictures or a collection of shots in a book – it’s so nice to have the “result” in your hands that sum up the proces from planning to postprocessing and printing. Furthermore, this photoblog is a kind of photographic diary for me.
I shoot with a digital Nikon SLR and I have several lenses (in the range from 12-200 mm), primary Nikon lenses. It’s great to have some nice gear but I think the photographer behind the camera often plays an even greater role when it comes to the final result. I try to do as much as possible during the capture, leaving only a minimal work back home on the computer. When you force yourself to produce the best raw material as possible you are more aware of the conditions during the capture: Light conditions, composition etc. When you do that you go from making random snapshots to make pictures that matters.
My favorite category is nature but I shoot almost everything; nature, street, night and portrait photography. I always try to do it in different ways and improve my skills whatever I shoot.
