Transit of Venus

Yesterday this amazing phenomena could be observed by looking towards the sun. Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable celestial phenomena and occur in pairs eight years apart which are themselves separated by more than a century. I’m already looking forward to year 2117 where it happens again :)

Some technical info: I used my Nikon D90 with a 70-300 mm lens (shooting on 300 mm), ISO 100, f/32, 1/4000 sec and a 9 stop ND-filter. The picture is made out of 1 shot where I’ve “pasted” the three last positions of Venus into.

  1. Superb view, I have not the change to see this (the weather was too bad).
